Why Choose a Reverse Osmosis Water Filter?

There are over 84,000 industrial chemicals used commercially in the United States, and the full extent of their health impacts is not known. They are in personal care products, pharmaceuticals, household items and industry, and they find their way into our air and water. We call them the "known unknowns."

How Reverse Osmosis Works

A reverse osmosis system pushes water through a membrane that rejects contaminants by their size and their charge. Any contaminant with a molecular weight greater than 200 is likely rejected by a properly running RO system. For comparison, a water molecule has a molecular weight of 18.

That is why reverse osmosis is capable of removing up to 99%+ of the dissolved salts, particles, colloids, organics, bacteria and pyrogens from your water. Pre-filters before the membrane handle sediment and chemicals first, so the membrane can do its job.

How to Choose a Reverse Osmosis System

Count the stages. Many standard systems filter in three stages, catching only the larger particles. More stages means more filtration before the water reaches your glass.

Ask how long the membrane lasts. The membrane is the heart of any RO system. Some need replacing every year. Ours lasts at least three to five years with proper yearly maintenance.

Look at the waste ratio. Every RO system sends some water to the drain. A lower ratio is better for your water bill and the environment.

Think about filter changes. If changing filters means reaching into a canister of wet, contaminated filter, look for a system you can maintain yourself once a year without touching the filter.

Match your kitchen. An RO system gets its own faucet at the sink. Choose a system with faucet options that suit your kitchen.

How fast does an RO system make water?
The process of reverse osmosis can take up to an hour to produce a gallon, depending on water temperature and pressure. That is why our EZTwist stores purified water in its own tank, ready when you need it.

Does reverse osmosis remove bacteria?
It is capable of removing up to 99%+ of bacteria, but an RO system should not be relied upon to remove 100% of bacteria and viruses.

Can I connect it to my refrigerator?

How often does it need maintenance?

Do I need a whole house filter too?
They do different jobs. Reverse osmosis purifies the water you drink and cook with. A whole house water filter protects all of the water in your home.
